It is really strange yet fascinating how fast things change. It’s a blind reality. Today is totally different from yesterday. Tomorrow is going to be nothing like today. Things change, you change, I change and the world wakes up new all over again. Some changes amuse you But some scare you and can even scar you forever. The scar remains and reminds you of the change every time you see it. One of the changes is the changing trends of hobbies among the present generation.
Every generation of youth is different in important ways. There are negatives and positives in both generations. If we take a look at the present and past generation of young people, one can instantly realize the great gap that now exists between both generations. This generation of youths has developed different attitude, work ethics, discipline and creativity compared to past generation. Most say that the children of yesterday were preferably worthier unlike children today.
Many people believe that this generation has become lazy and loves procrastination and have a hard time accepting the change in trends of hobbies now a days. They’re stuck to their old technological way. We have become more practical and technological as compared to the previous generations.
I strongly believe that people of my generation are smarter and more intelligent than our ancestors, while the older generations disagree with this idea. I see that the present-day discovery of scientific facts and modern technology help shaping our idea of the world and lead us to the better understanding of the world, by giving us skill of swiftness, convenient access to information and fact of nature, and correcting the false myths. Also, brand-new style of teaching allows kids these days to be more creative and confident than those in the old days, as students are allowed to use ask their teacher when in doubt, and join an open discussion in class. While our grandparents spent their free times reading books, played with wooden toys and felt the fresh air outside home, kids of my generation are surrounded by televisions, video games, tablets, smart phones and computers in a closed room. These gadgets, in contrast with book which requires much imagination to build a world from text, give vivid image of the fantasy on screen.
There are various options now a days and the most favourite hobby of this generation is binge watching , especially on NETFLIX. some may prefer shopping , dancing , singing , cooking , reading or sleeping etc but watching movies/series remains at the top.
According to this generation, GenZ are more accepting and tolerating towards the new changes or ideas being introduced. They are not afraid to bend or twist around the orthodox features of the society. They are more fearless and outspoken and are more aware. Genz kids have more niche interests and are not afraid to follow these hobbies proudly whereas the older generations conformed more to social norms and older generations were more extroverted in their hobbies.
Among the vast varieties of hobbies and interests , it becomes tough for us to choose one particular hobby , thus our hobbies keep on changing often. We also tend to lose interest in things easily because there is a crazy variety of choices available which makes it almost impossible to choose one. Whenever we choose one, some other thing starts looking more fun and attractive, which is completely normal.
These hobbies can also lead us to make a career out of them. You probably are familiar with the phrase that says “The person that has turned his hobby into his profession is a happy one.” It is true that for a number of reasons, more and more people have turned their hobby or hobbies into their daily occupations and those that have done so, state that this decision has dramatically changed their life towards the better. They advice others to do the same and they do have a point, if one considers that the person who uses his or her skills to earn a living actually practices something he or she loves doing. For example, if you have been receiving compliments for your cooking or pastry skills, from a variety of people, perhaps you should consider a career in that field.
Choose your truism. We are the most diverse, tolerant, connected, educated, and idealistic generation ever. Or the most narcissistic, lazy, entitled, coddled, distrustful, and disconnected or the most downwardly mobile, debt-ridden, unlaunched, unmarried, unchurched, and apolitical. Or a great bunch of kids who play nicely with others, love their parents, respect their elders, want to save the planet, and can’t catch a break.
It is a known fact that a unified group is much more successful than one that is divided. Generation Z is the most open minded and diverse generation history has seen so far. Individuals are more accepted for who they are and differences are celebrated instead of criticized.
Raising concerns on issues around the world is also a major hobby.
Most generations tend to be more left-leaning than the previous generation, and Gen Z is no exception. While Gen Z-ers look a lot like Millennials on many key issues, they are the most politically progressive generation yet. They are the least likely generation to approve of President Trump’s leadership, and they are the most likely generation to see the advancement of LGBTQ RIGHTS as a positive development. Even among Republicans, GEN ZERS take a more progressive stance on social issues : they agree that Blacks are treated more unfairly in this country, they believe the government should play a greater role in solving problems and they are more likely to attribute climate change to human activity, as opposed to natural patterns.
Teens today are spending their time differently than they did a decade ago. They’re devoting more time to the things they like to do rather than things their parents want them to do. This generation is thus becoming more independent , confident and bold.
